Al Salerno is a contemporary artist, singer-songwriter and photographer based in Palermo, Italy. 
Born in 1987 in Turin he's known in the independent italian music scene with the stage name of Buzzy Lao.
As a musician, he has released three studio albums: 'Hula' (INRI, 2016), 'Universo - Riflesso' (INRI / Bunya Records, 2020), and 'Black Karma' (Bunya Records, 2024) supported by extensive live activity across Italy and Europe. In 2019, he founded Bunya Records, continuing to produce music at Honua Studio, his audio/visual studio in the heart of Palermo.
Since 2020 he has rediscovered his passion for analog photography and from that moment he never leaves his beloved Leica M from the 1970s.
As a photographer he document the nuances of daily life from the intimacy of his personal life, street photography and long-term projects focusing his lens on themes such as cultural identity, diversity, migration, gender equality and protests.
His first published photo series - 'From the River to the Peace' - documents the pro-Palestine protests in Palermo (2023) created in collaboration with Our Voice / Voci Nel Silenzio and premiered on Rockit.it in 2024. An exhibition of the series is planned for 2026.
In 2025 he began working with Archètravel on the authorial documentary project 'A occhi aperti', aimed at producing photo series from around the world. The first chapter - 'Nothing but Gold' - was shot in Egypt and premiered at Combo Torino in December 2025. The exhibition will tour other Italian cities in 2026 curating by the editor and curator Stefano Carini. 
Salerno is also developing 'Glimpse on a Dancefloor', a photo series shot between 2023 and 2025 during various editions of the Nomad Festival in Palermo and premiered at the Nomad Off edition of December 2025 with a photo installation curated by Paolo Toro. 
He works on both personal and commissioned project, with collaborations including many realities such as brand, cultural associations and artist like Romare, Lero Lero and Max Petrone.
