Al Salerno is a contemporary artist, singer-songwriter, record producer and photographer based in Palermo, Italy.
Born in 1987 in Turin he's known in the independent italian music scene with the stage name of Buzzy Lao.
As a singer-songwriter he has released 3 studio albums, 'Hula' (INRI - 2016), 'Universo - Riflesso' (INRI - Bunya Records 2020) and 'Black Karma' (2024 - Bunya Records) along with an intense live activity all over Italy and Europe.
In 2019 he founded Bunya Records, a small independent label continuing to produce music projects at Honua Studio, his audio / visual recording studio in the centre of Palermo.
Since 2020 he has rediscovered his passion for analogue photography and from that moment he never leaves his beloved Leica M from the 1970s.
As a photographer he document the nuances of daily life from the intimacy of his personal life, street photography and long-term projects focusing his lens on themes such as cultural identity, diversity, gender equality and protests.
The first published project is 'From the River to the Peace', a photo series about the Pro Palestine's protests in Palermo during October '23 and the spring of '24 premiered on Rockit in July '24.
He also work for commissions and collaborate with many realities such as Nomad Music Festival and Archètravel along with many artists including commissioned portraits for Romare, Lero Lero and Max Petrone.
